Philosophy of Education
I believe that everyone wants to learn and can learn. I use a student-centered approach to teach, as this approach is based on the notion that adults bring a great deal of life experience to the learning situation, therefore, this experience should be the basis for their learning.
My goal as a learning facilitator is to "invite" students to learn. I strive to create an environment, whether it be in a traditional face to face class or online, where more students choose to "drop-in" rather than "drop-out".
I believe that all students have strengths, and that it is the goal of education to assist students in identifying and building upon these. The learner and educator are equal partners in the learning relationship. The job of the educator is to inspire the learner to want to learn and to believe in their own abilities. You are what you believe.
